Zarif to have working lunch with Ashton in Brussels today

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his accompanying delegation arrived in Belgian capital city, Brussels, early Monday morning for talks with EU outgoing foreign policy director, Baroness Catherine Ashton, IRNA reported.

Majid Takht-e Ravanchi, deputy foreign minister for Europe and American affairs and Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, both high ranking members of the Iranian nuclear negotiation team are accompanying Zarif in this trip.

Zarif and Ashton will at 11 am, Brussels time, meet and then they will have a working lunch together.

The two sides are scheduled to evaluate the process of the negotiations and achieve an agreement on a way to further pursue them comprehensively.

During the Zarif-Ashton meeting in Brussels the exact time for the next round of Iran-Sextet negotiations in New York will be defined.

This meeting will be the first between Zarif and Ashton after the end of the Vienna 6 talks which were held from July 2 to 19, in which the two sides due to not reaching a comprehensive agreement because of differences of opinions on such issues as the extent of uranium enrichment in Iran, extended the negotiation period for a new four month period.

After his talks in Brussels, Zarif will leave for two European Countries, Luxemburg and Italy. In Italy he will meet and confer with Federica Mogherini, his current Italian counterpart who is to be the successor of Ms. Ashton.

Simultaneously, Mr. Ravanchi will spent Tuesday and Wednesday in the Czech Republic for talks with that countryˈs officials on bilateral relations and international developments.
