The U.S. Department of Defense transported 28 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles via the Georgian railroad from Poti to the Krtsanisi Training Centre near Tbilisi on April 10-12, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia said today.

This technique is designed to Georgian soldiers trained by the U.S. servicemen for the operation in Afghanistan, a statement said.

Georgian battalion, which will reinforce Georgian troops in Afghanistan within the ISAF operation this summer, is being trained in Krtsanisi training under the guidance of the U.S. Marines.

After sending the battalion, Georgian servicemen in Afghanistan will increase to 1,700 people. Georgia has lost 15 people during its participation in NATO operation in Afghanistan.

It should be stressed that Russia has repeatedly protested in connection with the U.S weapon supply to Georgia.
