The Georgian Parliament has today approved the changes to the state budget at a special meeting, which were caused by the natural disaster in Eastern Georgia.
According to the unanimously adopted changes, about 162.3 million lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari) will be mobilized from the internal resources of the state budget for the short-term assistance program, and long-term infrastructure projects to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster which occurred on July 19.
According to the draft amendments to the budget, only the amount of costs will change. It will increase from 6.777 billion lari to 6.783 billion lari. Other income will not be changed.
According to the amendments, the disaster relief fund will be established this year. It will have 50 million lari. Prime Minister will deal with the funds. The fund will finance rehabilitation of damaged houses of the population, the provision of disaster-affected population with food, the issuance of compensation to owners of agricultural land.
