Candidate for Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili is going to leave politics in a year and a half. Ivanishvili said this at a meeting with parliamentary minority on Wednesday, responding to MP George Karbelashvili's question.

"I will do this in a year and a half, rather than in two years, he said. "I have been in politics for 1 year. After we won the elections, I will say more exactly that I will leave politics in a year and a half. However, I am not going to leave the country. I will leave a team that will fulfill all our promises. I am going to be an active member of the civil sector. Together with the civil sector, we will control the government. We must learn how to choose the government and then control it. It is possible for Georgia to be closer to Europe for next two decades."

Earlier leader of the Georgian Dream coalition which won the recent parliamentary elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili proposed candidates for ministers in the new Georgian government.

Ivanishvili intends to become prime minister.
