Speaker of the Georgian Parliament David Usupashvili is sure that the Council of Europe will not satisfy the requirement of the Russian delegation.

The head of Georgian parliamentary delegation to the Council of Europe said that despite the demands of Russian delegation, the Council of Europe will not impose sanctions against Georgia.

"The matter rests in inclusion of the member of Russian State Duma (parliament) Vasily Likhachev into the monitoring group of the Council of Europe. Likhachev was withdrawn from the delegation on our request ten days ago, because he violated the law according to which foreigners can not enter Georgia's occupied territories without the permission of the Georgian government, and if someone violates this law, then that person will face sanctions when entering Georgia," Usupashvili said.

He went on to add that, the Russian side and representatives of other countries demanded to punish Georgia and not to allow Georgia to hold events under auspices of the Council of Europe.

"We have a very principal position in this regard. We have told all, that this will be a great injustice. I am sure that Council of Europe will not do this," Usupashvili said.
