PLO accuses Israel of impeding peace process
The Palestinian leadership on Monday accused Israel of blocking the peace process by not taking practical steps to end the conflict, Xinhua reported.
"Israel repeats its calls for making peace only in the media," said Yasser Abed Rabbo, a member of Palestine Liberation Organization's Executive Committee. "Israel has no practical policy to achieve the two-state solution."
The construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank and the seizure of Palestinian lands in East Jerusalem "are obstacles preventing the creation of an independent Palestinian state," Abed Rabbo told reporters.
The negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel broke down in September, when Israel resumed building settlements in the West Bank and refused to extend a partial 10-month moratorium on construction.
