Thousands of Jordanians were preparing Thursday to take part in a rally to be held in the Jordan Valley, near the Israel-controlled border with the West Bank, on Friday to express backing for the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes, organizers said.
However, the event, designed to mark the 63th anniversary of Nakba (tragedy) , the Arab term for the foundation of Israel in Palestine in 1948, will not involve crossing the border by participants, contrary to some earlier media reports, DPA reported.
The rally is organized by the IAF, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, and the allied left-leaning Popular Unity Party (PUP). Dozens of trade unions and civil society bodies said they would participate in the event.
