An explosion a military training camp in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday killed three members of the Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) and wounded eight, first aid officials said, DPA reported.

The blast occurred near the southern town of Rafah, according to the officials.

Police spoke of an accident which they said was under investigation.

Officials at Rafah Hospital said the deaths and injuries had been caused by an explosive device.

Sources in the town said the blast wrecked a training camp of the PRC's armed wing al-Nasser Salah al-Dein, which has been involved in rocket attacks on Israel.

Ambulances rushed to the scene and evacuated the casualties.

The PRC is loyal to Hamas, the Islamist movement which controls the Gaza Strip.
