Qatari investments in Egypt climbed 74 per cent in the first quarter of 2012, data from the Central Bank of Egypt showed on Sunday Al Ahram online reported
Investment from the gas-rich emirate climbed to $13.2 million in the period between January and March 2012, up from the $3.4 million it injected into Egypt in the previous three months.
In the immediate aftermath of ex-president Hosni Mubarak's overthrow, Qatar -- the world's richest nation per capita -- said it was prepared to invest $5 billion to $10 billion in various projects to support Egypt's economy and create jobs.
