( Itar-Tass ) - President Vladimir Putin has voiced hope that protests in Georgia will be peaceful, and the sides will be mature and politically far-sighted.

He immediately added that the events are an internal affair of Georgia.

"The only thing I would like to say is that we hope the protests will be peaceful, and the sides will show maturity and political far-sightedness. We hope that the protests will not develop into clashes or, God forbid, cause the loss of life," he said.

"Certain friends frequently tell us that democratic processes in some CIS member countries, including Georgia, set a good example. God forbid we follow examples of the kind," he said.
