Four miners killed, three injured in east Ukraine mine accident

( RIA Novosti ) - Four miners were killed and three others injured during a rock slide at a coal mine in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian emergencies ministry said on Monday.

The mine accident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. Moscow time (1:00 p.m. GMT) on Sunday, with earlier reports saying that eight miners were believed to have been trapped beneath the rock.

The injured miners were hospitalized with various injuries, the ministry said.

In another incident on Sunday, 555 miners were urgently evacuated following a fire in a mine, also in the Lugansk Region. There were no casualties in the incident, the local rescue service said.
