Turkey will not allow an inter-religious war in Iraq, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted by TRT Haber TV channel as saying today.
All statements made by the Iraqi authorities about Ankara interfering in Baghdad's domestic affairs are unfounded, Erdogan said.
He also recalled that during U.S. troops' invasion to Iraq, Turkey refused to participate in the operation because it understood that Iraqis will be against it.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu criticized Iraqi internal policy, saying that the events in Iraq show that the country's stability is threatened and Turkey excludes the possibility of Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi's involvement in terrorist acts in the country.
Davutoglu's words were perceived by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki as interference in its domestic affairs.
