Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 29

By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Considering the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani territories and terrorist attacks, which Turkey has recently experienced, the armies of both countries should be ready to repel any threats, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Coskun told Trend Oct.29.

He said that Azerbaijan is an important strategic partner of Turkey and the countries develop ties in the military sphere.

"Azerbaijan seeks to achieve NATO standards, and Turkey, as a NATO member, tries to share its experience with Azerbaijan," the ambassador said.

Coskun said that Turkey intends to develop relations with both Azerbaijan and other fraternal countries.

He said that in the first half of 2015, during the visit of minister of economy of Turkey to Baku, the sides discussed a number of important issues on development of bilateral relations. Joint investment in other countries was also discussed.

"The number of Azerbaijani tourists visiting Turkey exceeded 600,000 people in 2014," said the ambassador.

Turkish Airlines has increased the flights to Azerbaijan, while the Azerbaijani Airlines (AZAL) - to Turkey, he added.

In one word, all opportunities of Turkey should serve Azerbaijan and the whole potential of Azerbaijan should be accessible for Turkey, according to the diplomat.

Coskun noted that alongside with strengthening the relations between Baku and Ankara, the sides also develop ties with such countries as Georgia, Iran and Turkmenistan.

Touching upon the upcoming parliamentary election in Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ismail Alper Coskun said that regardless the results of the parliamentary election, the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan won't change.

"Given that Turkey will also hold parliamentary election Nov.1, as district from the previous elections, a large number of observers from Turkey won't be able to participate in Azerbaijan's parliamentary election," said the ambassador.
