Fifteen militants of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist group were eliminated in Turkey’s Kars and Siirt provinces May 22 as part of an anti-terrorist operation, the Turkish General Staff said in a message May 23.
In particular, 12 terrorists were eliminated in Kars province, and three terrorists - in Siirt province, according to the message.
The Turkish General Staff also said that one of the particularly dangerous PKK terrorists was eliminated in Turkey May 22.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
