Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 23 / Trend S. Agayeva /
Hungary plans to move to a new level of economic cooperation with Azerbaijan on the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, Hungarian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zsolt Csutora told Trend on Thursday.
He said there are new areas of cooperation where the two countries can cooperate successfully and derive mutual benefits. These are the agrarian sector, tourism, alternative energy.
After cooperation possibilities in agriculture were examined, Hungarian companies prepared proposals on cooperation in poultry, livestock, seed and gardening.
Hungarian Agriculture and Regional Development Minister Sándor Fazekas plans to discuss these relations with the relevant Azerbaijani bodies in Baku in April, he said.
The purpose of the visit is to participate in the 28th Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Baku on April 18-21. The minister will be accompanied by a delegation of representatives from Hungarian ministries and agencies, the diplomat
said.
The ambassador said the economic relations between the two countries continue to develop, but are still far from having reached an adequate level.
Despite the economic crisis, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Hungary last year increased by 10 percent from 2010.
A trading house will also soon open in Baku to give an impetus to these relations.
