In January-May 2013, the U.S. imported 58,000 barrels of oil from Azerbaijan, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Tuesday.

According to the EIA, the entire volume of petroleum products imported in January-May fell for naphtha (as feedstock for the petrochemical industry).

After a long interruption in 2012, the U.S. imported only 46,000 barrels of oil from Azerbaijan, while in 2008 this figure amounted to 308,000 barrels of oil products.

Oil products are produced at two Baku refineries with a total capacity of 16 million tons per year. Both refineries are part of SOCAR, which annually processes approximately seven million tons of oil from offshore and onshore fields at own expense.
