Ankara is determined to start a new phase in relations with Athens, the Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said at a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, the Anadolu agency reported Dec. 6.
The joint press conference took place following a meeting of the supreme council of the high-level cooperation between Turkey and Greece.
Davutoglu said Turkey and Greece already have no psychological barriers.
He stressed that both countries are determined to start a new phase in their relations.
"Many projects are being carried out between the two countries, for example, we are building the Canakkale bridge," Davutoglu said. "Turkey is also Greece's gateway to Asia, and Greece is our gateway to Europe."
"We also cooperate in the energy sector. The uniting of the TANAP project with the TAP project made us very happy," he added.
Davutoglu also said that some 20 years ago, no one could imagine such an energy partnership, and that it will satisfy both sides, Turkey and Greece.
"Our energy corridors are uniting," he added.
The Turkish PM also said that the relevant ministries were instructed to work together on the creation of an energy corridor.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, PM Davutoglu said he hopes for an early start of negotiations.
