Documentary by Trend News Agency Azerbaijanis in Russia Presented in Moscow

Agayev / The documentary Azerbaijanis in Russia, the film by Roman Agayev , the special correspondent of the Trend news agency in the Russian Federation was presented to guests and members of the fourth meeting of the Federal National and Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in Russia (FCNA) held in the President Hotel in Moscow.

Members from various organizations including: Council of the Federation, the MPs of the Duma State of Russia, the representatives of the city of Moscow and provincial Duma , the members of the various socio-political organizations and movements, representatives of the Azerbaijani organizations all over Russia, journalists from Russia and other countries took part in the presentation ceremony. The documentary Azerbaijanis in Russia covers all the major stages this organization evolved through to be established and registered in the Ministry of Justice of Russia on 1 October 1999. Initially, the film provides brief information about Azerbaijan, its history to the present day. The migration of Azerbaijanis to Russia due to different events and the fact that Azerbaijanis are residents of Russia are briefly depicted.

The film focuses on the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts and their tragic consequences for the Azerbaijanis, the continuing occupation of 20% of the lands of sovereign Azerbaijan and the fact that Azerbaijan has about 1 mln refuges and IDPs . The film points to the role of FNCA in informing Russia regarding the truth about Karabakh , in holding round table discussions and conferences with representatives from the Azeri, Armenian and Russian communities. The film also points to the role of FNCA in maintaining national and cultural traditions and customs of the Azerbaijani people, in strengthening civil society, promoting international peace in Russia, and in involving Azerbaijanis living in Russia to the socio-political, economic, cultural and scientific life of Russia. The film says that xenophobia and other forms of extremism in the multinational society of Russia are inadmissible and that it is important to join efforts in a fight against the evil of society which not only Azerbaijanis, but also the representatives of the other nationalities of Russia, suffer.

The film tells about the role of FNCA in the adaptation of Azerbaijani migrants to the new migration legislation of Russian Federation and in the establishment of the Media Holding Group at FNCA uniting the All-Russia newspapers AzerRos and I am a citizen, the magazines Migration & Policy, Messenger of 21st century, the internet radio Eurasia FM and the news and analytical portal of azerros.ru . The documentary Azerbaijanis in Russia by the Trend special correspondent was highly praised by the participants of the meeting and they were informed about the Trend news and analytical agency. The inter-branch literary Business Reputation of Russia and the House of Nations at the All-Russia Exhibition Center were especially interested in the film and expressed their wish to show it at future events.

The film Azerbaijanis in Russia was shot with the material assistance of the Azerbaijani and Russian mass media, TV channels and Internet-sites.

Moreover, the special correspondent of Trend new agency Roman Agayev was honored with the Journalist of the Year award for the sociological opinion polls and in accordance with the newspaper Diaspora of Azerbaijan for another documentary, Armenian Fascism which took first place in the competition held in memory of Samir Asgarkhanov , by the Ministry of the National Security of Azerbaijan in 2006. The certificate of the Journalist of Year was conferred on by Oktay Huseynov , the chairman of the organization Azerbaijan in Moscow.
