Organization of the first European Games in Baku can be compared with the organization of the Olympic Games, Italian men's light welter amateur boxer Vincenzo Mangiacapre told Trend June 25.
He said that everything is organized at a high level in Azerbaijan, and all the conditions for the athletes are created. Italian boxer went on to add that modern sports arenas are built in Azerbaijan.
The first European Games are very important for athletes, he said. "Such competitions help athletes to gain experience," Italian boxer said.
He said that it is his second time in Azerbaijan and he likes the country a lot.
The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28. There are a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
