The Parliament of Columbia may adopt new documents on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the chairman of the second constitutional committee of the Colombian Senate, Senator Alexandra Moreno Piraquive, said at a news conference in the Azerbaijani parliament.
On April 24, the Colombian Senate adopted a document in connection with the hardest problem of Azerbaijan - Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and in particular the Khojaly genocide.
"This document recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the fact that Armenia is an aggressor country. We support the early fair solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, lasting for 20 years. Columbian Parliament may take a number of new laws on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Piraquive said.
The senator, emphasizing the interest in the development of bilateral Azerbaijani-Colombian relations, said that by the end of the year opening of the Colombian embassy in Azerbaijan is expected.
Alexandra Moreno Piraquive said the two countries have already signed the documents on visa-free regime for persons with diplomatic and service passports, on the exchange of experiences between the Diplomatic Academies, and that the number of documents is under preparation.
"Our visit to Azerbaijan is very important for the parliament and government of Columbia. During the visit we held a series of effective meetings and negotiations on the multilateral development of relations," Piraquive said.
