Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Representatives of Azerbaijani opposition will appeal to the Council of Europe to consider the Azerbaijani Election Code at the PACE winter session, stated the president of the Public Forum For Azerbaijan Eldar Namazov to the Trend agency on 21 December.
The Azerbaijani Government holds negotiations with the Council of Europe Venice Commission to improve the Election Code.
Five opposition representatives, chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) Sardar Jalaloglu, leader of Musavat party Isa Gambar, chairman of the Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP) Ali Orujev and chairman of the Tereggi Party Chingiz Damiroglu held a meeting and took a decision to develop a single document on the half of Azerbaijani opposition and submit it to the Council of Europe.
According to Namazov, the document will include problems which exist in human rights, social and economic spheres in Azerbaijan.
"The document requires the Council of Europe to appoint a rapporteur to Azerbaijan on political prisoners and demand Azerbaijan to fulfill obligations taken before the Council of Europe. Moreover, we would ask the Venice Commission to adopt proposals by opposition to make changes in the Election Code of the country," Namazov added.
Namazov will take part at the PACE winter session.
