Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 March / Trend corr I. Alizade/ The Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov said that the assailants who attempted to kill the employee of Azadlig newspaper will be made answerable in the near future.
"A criminal case has been filed into the stabbing of the journalist and the investigation is underway," Asadov said at the parliamentary meeting on 14 March.
On 13 March, at 8.00pm Agil Khalil, a journalist of the Azadlig newspaper, was stabbed in the chest by unknown assailants. He was immediately taken to the Clinical Medical Centre where he was operated on.
Panah Huseyn, a member of the Parliament's opposition faction Musavat, urged for the matter to be discussed at Parliament. The request was rejected by the Speaker who stated that the crime would be solved.
