Date of elections to People's Council of Turkmenistan determined

In Turkmenistan, elections to the People's Council are scheduled for December 5. Members of this structure, which serves as a deliberative body, are gathered annually to discuss issues of national importance.

This question is about the election of members of districts of Halk Maslahati, the Halk Maslahati cities with the rights of districts, as well as the early elections of regional Halk Maslahati, the Halk Maslahati cities with the rights of regions.

The document, signed by the Chairman of the Majlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan Akja Nurberdiyeva says that the elections will be held "in order to continue to give dynamism to the reforms and changes taking place in the country."

the UN Development Programme (UNDP) renders technical assistance in preparation for planned elections renders. In particular, within the project potential of members of electoral commissions of Turkmenistan increases through trainings on BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) method.

Eighty members of the district (etrap) election commissions in the country's five regions and in Ashgabat have recently been involved in to these trainings.

According to the UN press release, the purpose of providing technical support is providing the state agencies of Turkmenistan with relevant international experience to strengthen the electoral system and processes in Turkmenistan.
