Azerbaijani National Security Minister meets with UN’s new ambassador

Azerbaijani National Security Minister met with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Fikret Akcura.
Azerbaijan's National Security Minister, Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov congratulated Fikret Akcura upon beginning of his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan, the National Security Ministry told Trend.
Mahmudov highly appreciated assistance and efforts on the development of relations between the UN and Azerbaijan in the sphere of technical and methodological provision, organizing exchange of international practice and combat drug smuggling, which are provided by the country's law enforcement agencies, including the Ministry within the projects of the UN Development Programme and regional program on "Drug Control in the South Caucasus"
Mahmudov spoke about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the problems arisen from this conflict, our country's efforts for a just settlement of the problem within international principles and legal norms. The minister also spoke about the need to implement the relevant UN resolutions on the liberation of Azerbaijan's occupied territories and consistent work of international bodies in this direction.
Mahmudov spoke about combating international terrorism and transnational organized crime.
Akcura said that he will further provide full support for the significant contribution of the UN programs in the development and prosperity of the people.
Akcura appreciated the socio-political stability in the country, which is the main for Azerbaijan's progress. He said the National Security Ministry has merits in preventing and eliminating any threats in various spheres, as well as in ensuring the security of the diplomatic corps, functioning in the country.
