Uzbek ombudsman's office reports on work in 2010

Uzbek ombudsman received 10.600 appeals from citizens in 2010.

Most complaints concerned the issues of socioeconomic and personal interests, and rights to justice and a fair trial.

These data were presented at an expanded meeting of the committee observing the constitutional human rights and freedom, where a report on the activities of ombudsman was delivered in 2010.

Parliamentary ombudsman Rashidova Sayera noted that more than 4,200 appeals are under control.

The ombudsman conducted a legal review of several legal acts prepared by committees of the parliament, government, ministries and agencies for compliance with international standards of human rights. The proposals on 25 draft laws were submitted.
