Kazakhstan will provide all possible support and assistance to compatriots abroad, wishing to return to their homeland, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev promised.
"Our door is always open for those wishing to move and settle in their native land," Nazarbayev said addressing the Fourth World Kurultai of Kazakhs, which opened in Astana on Wednesday.
He said it is necessary jointly specify goals and tasks facing the country in order to provide appropriate assistance to compatriots.
He recalled that Kazakhstan has not escaped the consequences of the global financial crisis and now it is overcoming these consequences. In this regard, the country can not fully make provision for all settlers. However, there is a quota at 20,000 people, who will be provided with all possible assistance.
"However, there will be no obstacles for other persons who want to reunite with their relatives, live in their native land, and study in their motherland," Nazarbayev said.
A draft law on migration designed to simplify document submission and obtaining citizenship by the Kazakhs living abroad is under development in the Kazakh parliament.
About a million people have come back to historical homeland since Kazakhstan gained independence.
He instructed the Kazakh National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna to provide financial assistance to holding small kurultais of Kazakhs abroad.
"We welcome further holding of small kurultais abroad. The Fund will support such kurultais," Nazarbayev said.
Kazakh diaspora are the guardians of the people's spiritual culture. Therefore, according to Nazarbayev, it is necessary to be engaged in collection of heritage of ancestors, preserved in diaspora around the world.
