Washington state governor greets Azerbaijanis on Republic Day

The governor of U.S. state of Washington Christine O. Gregoire has greeted Azerbaijanis on Republic Day, Azerbaijan's Consulate General in Los Angeles reported.
"As governor of the state of Washington, I am pleased to extend warm greetings to all
celebrating the 93rd Anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Republic Day is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on Azerbaijan's rich history, including journey and sacrifice leading up to the formation of the Republic in 1918. As the first democratic country in the Muslim world, Azerbaijan has developed a proud legacy of and inclusion.
Throughout history, Azeris, including a growing Azeri American population, have made contributions to literature, the arts and sciences, and sports. As you commemorate this significant anniversary, I hope you will also celebrate the richness of Azerbaijani culture.
