Ashgabat hosted the conference "International Experiences and Prospects for Further Improvement of Public Administration in Turkmenistan" as a joint project for the Turkmen government and UN Development Program (UNDP).
The organizers' press release states that the forum was attended by Representatives of the State Service Academy under Turkmen President, Members of Parliament, ministry department employees, local government employees, and European experts.
The event discussed the need to train civil servants, introduce ICT, establishing automatic service equipment and "electronic government" systems in state institutions' offices.
The report stresses the importance of comprehensive national training and retraining a personnel and civil servants training system. With this goal in mind, under the President of Turkmenistan, the State Service Academy was established in September 2008.
