Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has instructed Turkmenistan Airlines management to work out the issue of ensuring air communication between the city of Turkmenbashi and the provinces during the summer holidays, national TV channel "Altyn Asyr" said today.
"This will significantly reduce the time and the distance from the regions to the national tourist zone "Avaza", the Turkmen leader said.
Turkmenistan Airlines management reported on the possibilities of expanding the cooperation with foreign airlines, the reconstruction of the country's airports and the further modernization of services.
"Having heard the report, the President stressed the important role of the air communication in the integrated development of all sectors of Turkmen economy, expansion of mutually beneficial international cooperation," the message said.
The Turkmenbashi airport is also aimed at improving its international status in connection with the development of the Caspian Sea resort "Avaza". Local media reported that $1.4 billion has been invested in this project since late 2007.
The infrastructure was replenished by hotels, airport, electric power station, the sea water desalination plant.
More than 20 new facilities are being built in "Avaza". They will increase the number of tourists to 4,000 people. The construction of the yacht club has been launched. The construction projects of the entertainment center with Ferris wheel, aqua parks and other attractions are under implementation.
It is planned to begin equipping golf areas in the nearest future. The preparatory work for the construction of the palace of exhibitions, trade, business and spa centers is underway.
"A magnificent building of the Palace of Congress as a visible symbol of
Turkmenistan's open foreign policy will appear," the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency said. "Its important aspect is to strengthen and develop the relations of friendship, good neighborliness and positive cooperation with all world countries, authoritative
international organizations, business circles."
