Following the official welcoming ceremony, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the European Council President Herman Van Rompuy have today met in presence of delegations.
President Aliyev stressed that European Council President Herman Van Rompuy's visit to Azerbaijan is an important indicator of partnership and friendship between Azerbaijan and EU.
President Aliyev expressed his assurance that President Herman Van Rompuy's visit to Azerbaijan will be important and efficient, and will create good impressions for him.
Van Rompuy thanked President Aliyev for invitation to visit the country. President Rompuy recalled meetings held with President Aliyev within various events and said his is pleased to be in Baku. He said this visit will create favorable condition to discuss boosting of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in energy sector and other spheres.
