New advisor to Kazakh President appointed

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has appointed Krymbek Kusherbayev as his adviser, the Ak-orda said on Friday.

"According to the President's decree, Kusherbayev Krymbek has been appointed as advisor to the Kazakh President," the report said.

Kusherbayev has worked as the Governor of Mangistau region since January 24, 2006. On December 22, 2011, he resigned from his post as Governor of Mangistau region after the riots in the city Zhanaozen.

Mass riots hit the Kazakh oil city of Zhanaozen in Mangystau region on Dec.16. According to the Kazakh General Attorney Office, 14 people were killed as a result and over 80 injured. Buildings and cars were burned and the property of individuals and institutions destroyed.
