Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 7 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /

Chairman of Azadlig party represented in the Advisory Council of Democratic Forces, Ahmed Oruj, stands for determining a single candidate together with the so-called Public Chamber if new leaders appear.

"I do not want to talk specifically about Isa Gambar and Ali Kerimli," he told Trend today. "We think that the society would unite around this person. A candidate must not be associated in the public mind with previous failures and intrigue."

He said that the so-called Public Chamber's attempt to become a significant force with the help of the West has failed. The 20-years of opposition experience of this party's leaders caused society's fear of them.

"Therefore, it is impossible to achieve success following these leaders ambiguous public perception", he said. "They themselves are aware of this. "It would effectively nominate a new and unknown person with sufficient intelligence and culture. New leaders and politicians must appear."

He said that the Advisory Council of Democratic Forces will determine its own candidate just before the presidential elections.

"We have agreed to learn to work as a team before the elections, to examine the opportunities of joint activity and to determine a candidate just before the elections," he said. "We intend to use a model of the team leader, rather than the leader's team."

The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn of 2012.
