BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Azerbaijani citizens detained in the Chechen Republic (Russia) have been driven to their homeland, said spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizada, Trend reports.
According to him, upon receipt of information regarding the detention of Azerbaijani citizens Shirinov Elkhan (born 1975), Magherramov Vugar (born 1982), and Rzayev Nihad (born 2004), a formal communication was promptly dispatched to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation requesting the repatriation of these individuals to Azerbaijan. Discussions were conducted with the Russian Foreign Ministry and other pertinent authorities.
“Along with this, a telephone conversation between our embassy and the detained citizens took place. As a result of the work aimed at the return of Azerbaijani citizens to their homeland, their return to Azerbaijan by the overland route through the crossing point of the state border with the Russian Federation was ensured on September 21,” the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized.
