PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV TOOK PART IN HEYDAR ALIYEV LYCEE OPENING CEREMONY

Construction of 100 new schools in Azerbaijan is coming to an end, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening ceremony of the Heydar Aliyev Lycee on 15 September, Trend reports.

He reported, after the growing tendency for the economic development of Azerbaijan the government will pay more attention to the construction of new schools.

Over 4500 schools exist currently in Azerbaijan, many of which need major refurbishment. В"Construction of new schools and refurbishment of the existing ones is projected in the 2006 state budget. There is a necessity in replenishment of the material and technical supply of schools and we will work in this respect too”, the President said.

The Lycee director Fikret Halilov reported, the three-storey educational institution with the area of 1,25 hectares consists of 4 buildings and is designed for 844 schoolchildren. There are 32 class - rooms here, laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and the language laboratory, 2 sports halls, computer and cinema halls. There are also football, volleyball and basketball grounds in the school yard.

Director of the “Azerneftyag” Oil Refinery Ramiz Mirzoyev reported, the Lycee is built on the account of the factory’s revenues and 14 billion, 318 million AZM have been allocated for its construction, from which 1,7 billion AZM are funded for purchasing of the equipment.
