By the decision of the Collegium of 28 December 2005 of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan (MCIT) two companies have been issued licenses for the mobile communication, Trend reports.
The licenses have been given to the Joint Venture (JV) Azerphone (GSM operator ), which founders are the Aztelekom Producing Unit, the German Siemens and two British companies and the Azerbaijani-American JV Catel (CDMA operator).
2 GSM operators are currently functioning at the communication market of Azerbaijan: the Azerbaijani-Israeli Bakcell and the Azerbaijani-Turkish Azercell Telecom.
