On May 10 to 13, 2006 South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun is performing an official visit to Azerbaijan at invitation of Azeri president Ilham Aliyev. On May 4, 2006 temporary charge daffairs of South Korea in Azerbaijan Lew Kwang-chul reportedly said that May 10 Korean President is meeting with ethnic Koreans residing in Azerbaijan, May 11 with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and on the same day visiting Sangachal Oil Export Terminal.
This visit, Korean diplomat said, is the first in the history of interrelations between Korea and Azerbaijan, as well as no less important.
By the totals of conversations heads of states will sign a Declaration on mutual relationships principles to form a basis for further development of legislative environment, diplomat stressed. Besides, 4 documents will be signed on culture, aviation, power engineering and IT.
Korean charge daffairs said also this visit may promote Korean oil companies participation in development of Caspian oil&gas fields.
