Head of Nagorno-Karabakh`s Azerbaijani Community: I Do Not Believe Armenians Will Allow UN`s Expert Group on Territories Damaged by Fires

I do not believe that Nagorno-Karabakh`s separatists will allow a UN expert group to the territories damaged by fires, Nizami Bakhmanov, Nizami Bakhmanov, Head of the Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh, Head of the Executive Power of Shusha (occupied by Armenians since 1992) told journalists today, Trend reports..

Expressing his attitude toward the position of international organizations relating the fires on the occupied Azerbaijani territories, he pointed out that OSCE Minsk Group, which as a mediator in the negotiations over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement, is well aware of all the act of vandalism happening there. The Minsk Groups Co-Chairmen were eyewitnesses of not only burnings on the occupied Azerbaijani territories, but also destructions of all the historical and cultural monuments, houses, etc, there. Up to the moment, they have visited Nagorno-Karabakh at least hundred times. Andjey Kaspshik, OSCE Representative has gone around all the occupied territories and is aware of all happening there. However OSCE has not expressed its position up to date, told Mr. Bakhmanov.

He pointed out that an expert group aimed at investigating facts of burnings on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh following the raising of the issue on lingering conflicts on the GUAM member-states countries in UN Security Council. Their main aim is to examine these territories.

However, Mr. Bakhmanov considers that the separatists will not give opportunities for normal examination of these territories by the expert group. The burning territories are completely under their control, and different cases of a criminal character is committing there every day. They are engaged in burning lands, forests, and crops, growing drug plants, founding terrorist bases, and other illegal actions, he told.

Mr. Bakhmanov also pointed out that the report prepared by UN expert group will be submitted to all the member-states of OSCE. According to him, the key issue is to prevent fires in future. If the expert group is commissioned to OSCE, then any decisive position will not be expressed, he told.
