Armenia is Interested in Settling Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict NATO PA Envoy

Armenia is interested in settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for Future Defense and Security of the Defense & Security Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Vahid Erdem, briefed the media in Baku on October 16, Trend reports.

According to him, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been discussed with the senior officials of Azerbaijan. The key aspects of this process are to withdraw the Armenian Armed Forces from occupied Azerbaijani territories, return the refugees and internally displaced persons to their native lands and ensuring their security through involving international peacemakers, Erdem said. Armenia would otherwise isolate itself from the West by not participating in the large-scale railway projects connecting Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan to the Central Asian Countries and China, as well as various large energy projects.

We want Armenia, as other South Caucasian countries, to integrate into the West. Turkey closed the borders with Armenia after occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia. The only solution for Turkey is the release of the Azerbaijani territories. It will be a significant step for Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, Erdem emphasized.
