Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Arif Hajili, the head of the Azerbaijani Central Executive Apparatus, stated on 4 June that the Azerbaijani Musavat Party has held bilateral and multilateral negotiations with some political parties.
A range of proposals have been put forward the parties represented in the democratic camp to begin negotiations. On the basis of these proposals, negotiations are being held. The discussion to form a new opposition Alliance is being held within the framework of the political parties' forum. "I consider that it will not have results, there is impossible to form a serious opposition union I near future, as each party stick to their own political interests. The discussions within the opposition parties have intelligence character," Hajili added.
Musavat was formed in 1992. Isa Gambar, the chairman of the party, had been the speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament since1992 to1993. In 2003 Gambar was nominated for President. Five MPs represent the party in the Parliament.
