Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Tanzila Rustamkhanli, the advisor to the chairman of the Turkish World Congress has stated that among the candidacies for the position of chairman of the Congress of World Azerbaijanis preference will be given to the candidacy of Javad Derakhti.
The next IX meeting of the Congress will be held in Cologne ( Germany) from 8 to 10 July.
Some changes and supplements will be injected to the Charter and structure of the organization during the meeting. It was suggested to liquidate the Council of Congress and to form a composition of management as before.
The chairman of the organization, as well management will be elected at the meeting.
Currently, Javad Derakhti, the ruling chairman is the candidate for chairman of the Congress. Other candidates are expected to be nominated during the meeting.
"The candidate for the Congress chairman position should be a man from South Azerbaijan ( North Iran). I support Derakhti's candidacy," Rustamkhanli noted.
The Congress of World Azerbaijanis was formed in the United States in 1997. The main aim of the organization is for the struggle for independence of South Azerbaijan ( North Iran). Azerbaijanis residing abroad are represented in the structure.
