Azerba8ijan, Baku / Trend corr.I.Alizadeh / Akif Shahbazov, the Chairman of the Open Society Party (OSP) of Azerbaijan, stated on 12 June that the party agreed to sign a bilateral agreement with some of the opposition parties of Azerbaijan.

In spite of the achieved agreement, the signing of the bilateral agreement is not expected in near future.

"Our main aim is joining the opposition parties in more inclusive way, joint function for creating a democratic election atmosphere, and organization of a joint struggle. We consider that bilateral agreement will have no positive results," the Chairman noted.

The signing of the bilateral agreement had already been discussed with the Azerbaijani National Independence Party, the Musavat Party, the Azerbaijani Population Front Party, the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan, and with a broad range of non-Governmental organizations.

The OSP was founded by the people who separated from the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) in April 2007.

Presently, Akif Shahbazov is the Chairman of the OSP, and Rasul Guliyev is the Leader of the OSP. Guliyev was the Leader of the DPA from 1998 to 2006.
