Karabakh Forum Again Applies to Azerbaijani President

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / An appeal on behalf of the Karabakh Forum, which was held in Baku on 2 July, has been developed for further submission to Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, one of the organizers of the Forum, the Chairman of the Azadlyg party, Ahmad Oruj, reported.

A working group was formed of the participants of the Forum and the suggestions on settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were developed. The working group has developed an appeal to Azerbaijani President. The final draft of the document will be adopted at the meeting of the working group on 5 June and submitted to the President.

The appeal indicates the necessity in establishment of the Institution on Territorial Problems of Azerbaijan. The institution should function at the Administration of Azerbaijani President or at the National Academy of Sciences.

The appeal notes the necessity in releasing of the position of the President on the visit of the representatives of Azerbaijani intelligentsia to Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.

The document also reveals the necessity in development and adoption of the program on precise period of settlement of the conflict. Withdrawal of Russian troops from Armenia should be included into agenda. Program on mobilization of all Azerbaijani society for restoration of territorial integrity of the country should be developed, while the role of the opposition, authorities and public in the process should be defined.

The appeal also calls to reveal the principles for the talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Issue on referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh should be removed from the agenda of discussions. The participants of the Forum also suggest announcing of possible location of peacekeeping forces not in Nagorno-Karabakh, but only along Azerbaijani and Armenian border.
