Ukraine, Kiev / corr Trend Z.Novosvitskiy / The International Development Fund of GUAM (Georgia, the Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova) public organization has been established in Kiev, Ukraine, the country's Foreign Ministry reported on 7 September.
The constituent conference of this organization was held in Kiev on 6 September 2007. It was attended by political and business representatives of member-countries of the Organization for Democracy and Economical Development - GUAM, and diplomatic missions.
Participants discussed and adopted the Charter of the Fund, elected the senior bodies. Anatoly Matvienko, the famous Ukrainian politician and public figure was elected President of the International Development Fund of GUAM and Grigory Gudima a renowned businessman, was designated Chairman of the Fund.
The popularization of GUAM in its member-countries, the assistance in the development of democratic institutions, the consolidation of good neighboring and friendly relations among the members of the organization, and strengthening of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, are the primary goals of the Fund.
Matvienko is an MP candidate for the Ukrainian Parliament, in the early election scheduled for 30 September, from the bloc, Our Ukraine - Popular Defense.
