Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Ramazanova / Some changes will be made in the Election Code of Azerbaijan concerning the reduction of duration period to consider appeals linked with the elections, Safa Mirzoyev, the head of the Azerbaijani Parliament, said to the Trend Agency on 10 September.

The issue will be agreed with the representatives of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and Azerbaijani representatives during the next meeting in Baku in October 2007, who are jointly carrying out work to modernize the Election Code of Azerbaijan.

Previously the representatives of the Venice Commission stated that the majority of voters are not satisfied with the end results of each election. The duration period does not correspond with the elections process and all appeals should be considered before the final results are announced. All details to consider the appeals will be discussed at the next meeting in Baku.

The Azerbaijani Government agrees that the appeals should be considered by a special commission with the participation of lawyers.
