(Gulfnews) - China has discovered a suspected outbreak of bird flu among ducks in Guangzhou district, the Agriculture Ministry said on Saturday.
At least 9,000 ducks have died of the outbreak, the ministry said on its website.
Initial tests showed that the birds had died of the highly pathogenic strain of the virus, which can be transmitted to people.
Authorities have culled nearly 33,000 ducks to contain the outbreak.
