Liu gets a second career Olympic lifting gold for China

Liu Chunhong of China won Olympic gold like in 2004 on Wednesday in the women's weightlifting light heavyweight division, smashing the opposition with three world records, dpa reported.

Liu, a 23-year-old six-time world champion, lifted 128 kilos in the snatch and added 158kg in the clean and jerk for a big win with 286kg. All three results were world records.

Former world record holder Oxana Slivenko (276) trailed by 31kg with a silver medal performance of 255kg. The bronze went to Natalia Davydova of Ukraine with 250kg.

The men's heavyweight competition was set for later Wednesday.
