A preventive measure in the form of an arrest was made this week in respect to Chairman of the illegal Islamic Party of Azerbaijan Movsum Samedov, a law enforcement source told Trend.
Samedov is accused of the violent seizure of power and the illegal purchase of firearms, as well as other crimes.
A preventive measure in the form of a three-month detention will be applied.
Samedov was arrested on Jan. 7 and a preventive measure in the form of administrative detention to 13 days was chosen in respect of him.
Weapons and ammunition were found at his store and in the home of his relative, Dayanat Samedov.
The Republican Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the fact under Article 228 (Illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies and explosives).
