The presentation of electronic signature cards to leading mass media executives, organized jointly by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and the Press Council, was held on Friday.
Another purpose of the event was to give extensive information on electronic signature, the Council told Trend.
During the event, held at the Press Council, the Chairman Aflatun Amashev gave information on the features of an electronic signature, and stated that this service is of particular importance in terms of improving efficiency, time savings and other benefits for citizens and for representatives of media.
Giving specific examples on the use of electronic signatures by journalists around the world, Amashev said that today's event is a kind of start for Azerbaijani media's accession to this important process.
The Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Valizadeh in his speech talked on the work done in the field of e-government.
He said the project on the use of electronic signatures is implemented in accordance with the law "On electronic signature and electronic document" dated March 9, 2004.
The Deputy Minister noted that the service is paid, but the price is not high.
Valizadeh said that different prices will be set for businesses and business organizations, government officials and added that, according to the law, an electronic signature is identical to the signature on the original document and provides for the authentication of the person signing an electronic document.
The Head of Information Computer Centre at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Nail Mardanov spoke on the implementation of the e-signature project.
He also made a special presentation, during which he spoke on some of the features of the electronic signature and answered questions.
