BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. Azerbaijan is expected to introduce amendments to the rules for the gas distribution and sales, Trend reports.
The issue was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic ‘On gas supply’ that was discussed at a parliamentary session on May 5.
According to the bill, consumers will be provided with smart meters in compliance with Article 11 (calculation of energy consumption) of the Law 'On the rational use of energy resources and energy efficiency'.
In accordance with Article 11 of the law, power supply companies will provide consumers with smart meters of electricity, natural gas, central heating, and cooling, as well as hot domestic water. Smart meters will also be supplied in the event of damage or breakdown of existing meters.
The law may come into effect on July 1, 2022.
Following parliamentary discussions, the changes were put to the vote and adopted in the first reading.
