The Consular General of Azerbaijan to Istanbul, Sayyad Salahli, exclusively informed Trend that he discussed with the Head of Manis city (Turkey) the problems of the Azerbaijani citizens who can not return to their native land.
He said that 15 Azerbaijanis got married with Turks several years ago and went to Turkey. Due to the termination of the validity of their visa and passports, they can not receive Birth Certificate for their children. The children of these women are already 6-8 years old, but they have not citizenship either in Azerbaijan or in Turkey. They live in the village of Manis and their husbands are Turkish.
The Ambassador added that neither the laws of Turkey nor the laws of Azerbaijan allow resolving this question within a short time. These women can not return to Azerbaijan because they will have to wait 5 years to go Turkey again. Salahli said that he will discuss this question with the Azerbaijan Minister of Justice in the near future.
